Visa information for tourists

  1. Following documents should be submitted along with visa application:
    1. Original Passport valid for a minimum of 6 months, with at least one blank page
    2. Printed copy of online visa registration “ID” (starting with letter “M”)
    3. Self-addressed, stamped envelope /postage for registered mail according to the contain of the mail. Plus express postal-fee in case of urgency.

N. B. The Embassy is not liable for any damage or loss of the passport or documents in the post and non-delivery of it due to inaccurate/incomplete address or insufficient postage paid.

    2. A written confirmation of the round-trip flight by the Travel Agency, Company or other Authority requesting visa on behalf of the applicant

  1. A Visa Year is equal to a calendar year: from 1st of January to 31st of December.
  2. On Arrival Visa: Tourist visa may also be obtained upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at the designated Entry Points in Nepal.

However, the following persons do not qualify for on arrival visas and are therefore requested to obtain visas form the nearest Nepalese Mission before they enter Nepal:

  1. Refugees with travel document,
  2. Nationals of the following countries (except official and diplomatic passport holders): Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, Eswatini (Swaziland), Syria and Zimbabwe.
  1. Entry / Exit Points in Nepal: Followings are the designated entry/exit points in Nepal:
  1. Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
  2. Kakarvitta, Jhapa (Eastern Nepal)
  3. Birgunj, Parsa (Central Nepal)
  4. Kodari, Sindhupalchowk (Northern Border)
  5. Belahia, Bhairawaha (Rupandehi, Western Nepal)
  6. Jamunaha, Nepalgunj (Banke, Mid-Western Nepal)
  7. Mohana, Dhangadhi (Kailali, Far Western Nepal)
  8. Gadda Chauki, Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur, Far Western Nepal)
  1. Visa Extension: A tourist visa can be extended only by the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office on request.
  2. Territorial Validity:

With the exception of restricted areas, the Visa is valid for travel to all over Nepal.

  1. Trekking permits can only be obtained from the Department of Immigration, Kathmandu.
  2. Visa Period and Facility: Maximum 150 days in a year, visa has multiple re- entry facility
  3. Foreign currency carried in cash should be declared, if it exceeds 2000.00 US$ or equivalent amount, in the Custom Declaration Form before the Custom Officer at the Custom Office at the Entry Point of Nepal.
  4. Tourists are requested to change money with recognized banks/money changers/dealers and not to forget to take formal receipts.
  1. Nepali Rupees is not freely convertible.
  2. Vaccinations against Malaria, Cholera, Typhoid, Paratyphoid, Polio and Tetanus are highly recommended.
  3. Motorists need their valid National Driving License or an International Driving License. A liability of insurance is highly recommended.
  4. The ultimate right to grant or deny an entry rests with the Immigration Officer in Nepal.
