Minister for Youth, Labour, and Employment Hon’ble Ramjee Yadav Addresses the 114th Session of International Labour Conference in Geneva
Hon’ble Minister for Youth, Labour, and Employment Mr. Ramjee Yadav, addressed the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference at the Palais des Nations in Geneva today.
In his address, Minister Yadav expressed commitment to build an inclusive and resilient labour market meeting the aspirations of Nepali youth, highlighted efforts made by Nepal in digitizing the migration ecosystem, and called host countries, international partners and employers for enhanced cooperation. He urged all stakeholders to work together to shape the future of work, promote decent jobs, and make migration safe, orderly and humane.
Later in the evening, Minister Yadav had a productive meeting with the ILO Director General, H.E. Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo and exchanged views on further strengthening Nepal-ILO cooperation in the areas of decent jobs, skilling, digitalization, platform economy, gender equality at work, social protection and labour-migration.
Earlier, Minister Yadav met with IOM Director General, H.E. Ms. Amy Pope, discussed facilitating regular migration, protecting people on the move, promoting ethical recruitment, and protecting rights by migrant workers.
On the sidelines of the Conference, Minister Yadav had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Jerome Cosandey, Head of the Labour Directorate of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of the Swiss Confederation, discussed Nepal-Switzerland cooperation in the areas of vocational training, safer migration and remittances.
Later in the afternoon, Minister Yadav visited the Permanent Mission and took stock of Nepal’s priorities, activities, and engagements in Geneva.
The high-level Nepali delegation led by Hon. Mr. Ramjee Yadav, Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment comprises of H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ram Prasad Subedi, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, senior officials from the Ministry of Youth, Labour, and Employment, and the Permanent Mission of Nepal, and delegates representing Nepali Employers and Workers.
Minister Yadav arrived in Geneva yesterday. He was warmly received by Ambassador Subedi upon arrival at the Geneva International Airport.
Hon’ble Minister Yadav is scheduled to address the Ministerial Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group, and meet his counterparts from various friendly countries during the conference.
