Permanent Representative/Ambassador of Nepal H.E. Mr. Deepak Dhital presented his credentials to the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director General of the UN Office in Vienna (UNOV), H.E. Mr. Yury Fedotov, amidst a ceremony organized at the UNOV, Vienna on 11 February 2015.

In a talk following the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Dhital conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Rt. Honorable President and the Rt. Honourable Prime Minister of Nepal to the representative, and through him, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Referring to the recent visit of H.E. Mr. Fedotov, who is also the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), to Nepal in December last year, the Ambassador expressed the confidence that the visit has strengthened relations between Nepal and UNODC and opened up further avenues for cooperation and collaboration. Discussions were held regarding the cooperation between the Government of Nepal and UNODC in the prevention and control of drugs and related crimes, corruption and transnational organized crimes. The importance of education and awareness-raising in regard to the control of all transnational crimes was stressed upon and the need for support by the UN body in the capacity-building of the law enforcement agencies and officials in Nepal was highlighted. Mr. Fedotov laid emphasis on effective implementation of the relevant UN conventions for promoting security and stability in the country so as to pave the path for more rapid development, and eventual graduation from LDC. During the meeting, the Ambassador also presented a brief account of the efforts made by Nepal in giving completion to the peace process, including the writing of a democratic constitution by the Constituent Assembly. The Director General congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and assured him of all possible support in the discharge of his responsibilities on behalf of the UN Office in Vienna as well as the UNODC.

Similarly, on 10 February 2015, H.E. Mr. Dhital presented his credentials to the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), H.E. Mr. Lassina Zerbo, accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary/Permanent Representative of Nepal to the CTBTO Preparatory Commission in Vienna. During the meeting following the presentation of credentials, discussions were held on matters of further promoting the cooperation between the Government of Nepal and the CTBTO Preparatory Commission. Emphasis was laid on further engagement of Nepal in the implementation of relevant programmes with the support of CTBTO. The Executive Secretary congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and assured him of full support and cooperation of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission.
